I had a very short-lived job at a grocery store when I was 15, and the bag boys LOVED it when people would leave carts all over the place. They would say they were going to “go collect them” and then they’d be gone for like 45 minutes, smoking cigarettes and whatnot. And those of us who were cashiers then had to bag the groceries and ring them up. So. freakin. unfair. That was when I developed a disdain for people leaving their carts all over the place – I didn’t care yet about paint jobs!

And you’re right – it’s such a laziness factor. You have an hour to push the cart all over the store and fill it, but not a minute to put it back.

I hear you man and I don’t get it either. I’ve always made an effort to put carts in the designated areas when I’m done. Actually, I wouldn’t even call it effort.

This is all true, sometime you just have to walk the cart to the store unlike a certain friend of ours that rhymes with beith lenton.

I use the carts that are left in the parking lot too. I figure I can help them out a bit. +1 Crystal, small acts of kindness are all the world needs.

Brandi, there is another store that rhymes with MetSnart that has the same situation. I just use the extra steps to stretch my legs a bit.

I agree. However, a certain store I will not name, that resides in Rock Hill, does not have any cart collection areas, I mean none. I walked a few steps to the right of my car, a few steps to the left, then to the front, and back, and still nothing. I locked the car and walked the dumb little cart all the way back in to the store. I will tell you that it rhymes with Bobby Dobby.

GGGRRRRRRRR this is a huge pet peeve of mine It is so rude and lazy. I even help my fellow (wo)man who is returning their cart by taking their cart for them if I’m headed into the store. I’ve also had that favor repaid. Small acts of kindness should be paid forward, and acts of laziness should be punished. Can’t we call the law on these non-cart returners?
