another random rant

This idea came from Crystal, but I have thought this as well:

Why are people so lazy that they feel it is okay to leave a shopping cart in the middle of a parking lot or just prop the front wheels up on the curb?

I have actually driven into a parking lot only to see a runaway cart heading for a nice car.  Not really caring about my paint, I took one for the team.  Someone did see and thanked me, but that’s not the point.  It should not have happened in the first place.  Stores provide cart collection areas all over the parking lot and usually there is one a few feet away.  If people are in such a hurry that they don’t have time to store their cart properly, they should not have stopped at the store.  Seriously, time yourself the next time you take a cart to the proper area.  A minute, maybe, if you walk real slow.  Is that really worth being a jerk and not looking out for your fellow man?  And if is a case of laziness, that person is precisely the person that needs to walk a few extra steps.  It might just extend their life a bit.

GGGRRRRRRRR this is a huge pet peeve of mine :( It is so rude and lazy. I even help my fellow (wo)man who is returning their cart by taking their cart for them if I’m headed into the store. I’ve also had that favor repaid. Small acts of kindness should be paid forward, and acts of laziness should be punished. Can’t we call the law on these non-cart returners?

I agree. However, a certain store I will not name, that resides in Rock Hill, does not have any cart collection areas, I mean none. I walked a few steps to the right of my car, a few steps to the left, then to the front, and back, and still nothing. I locked the car and walked the dumb little cart all the way back in to the store. I will tell you that it rhymes with Bobby Dobby.

I use the carts that are left in the parking lot too. I figure I can help them out a bit. +1 Crystal, small acts of kindness are all the world needs.

Brandi, there is another store that rhymes with MetSnart that has the same situation. I just use the extra steps to stretch my legs a bit. :)

This is all true, sometime you just have to walk the cart to the store unlike a certain friend of ours that rhymes with beith lenton. :(

I hear you man and I don’t get it either. I’ve always made an effort to put carts in the designated areas when I’m done. Actually, I wouldn’t even call it effort.

I had a very short-lived job at a grocery store when I was 15, and the bag boys LOVED it when people would leave carts all over the place. They would say they were going to “go collect them” and then they’d be gone for like 45 minutes, smoking cigarettes and whatnot. And those of us who were cashiers then had to bag the groceries and ring them up. So. freakin. unfair. That was when I developed a disdain for people leaving their carts all over the place – I didn’t care yet about paint jobs!

And you’re right – it’s such a laziness factor. You have an hour to push the cart all over the store and fill it, but not a minute to put it back.

    Good rant, Kev!

I should start a blog and stop giving you all my ideas :P
