Random Thought Courtesy of Crystal

We want to know – what is your routine for drying off after a shower, or a swim for that matter?

My routine consists of drying my face and head (I have no hair) with the middle part of my towel first.  Then I dry off my left arm, move the towel across my chest and belly and dry off my right arm.  After that I throw the towel over my head and dry off my back with a back and forth motion pulling the towel with each hand and working my way down my back.  Then I dry off each leg, starting with the left leg and get the precious areas while I am there.

So how do you dry off?  Pay close attention, I’d bet you do it the same each time! Better yet, just try doing it a different way, I bet you will have to think about it, and it will take you longer!

Special thanks to Crystal for this topic!

Thanks for the props Kevin. As I was getting ready this morning, I thought of what an exact routine I have. With just the simple step of drying off, I’m down to the exact detail every time. After I turn off the shower, I open the shower door just enough to reach the towel, jerk it in and close the door back as quick as I can to keep out the cold. Then I dry my face and neck with the middle of my towel. Next I dry my left arm off, then my chest, then tummy, then I move to my right arm. After drying my right arm off (from hand to shoulder) I reach as far back as I can over my right shoulder and dry the top of my back off. Once this is done, I once again go to the middle of the towel and dry my hair as best I can and then I look like I stuck my finger in a socket. Next I open the shower and step out onto the feet towel and dry my left leg (top to bottom), then my right leg (bottom to top). Last I dry my back. I do it diagonal, with my left hand above my left shoulder, and my right hand close to the behind region, then I switch, right hand over right shoulder and left hand lower. I have sharp shoulder blades, so if I just did it from left to right, horizontally, I would not get the middle of my back between my shoulder blades. Once that’s all done I flip the towel around to the driest side, and wrap it around me while I comb my hair out and other various getting ready task. Now how do you dry?

Sad but extremely true, my wife and I just had this conversation about a week ago… I guess I really have moved all the way into Dork-hood.
Im probably gonna be the oddball of the group, (DEFINATELY not the first time, probably wont be the last time) but I actually dont like using a towel if at all possible, I prefer the air dry method. I only use the towel to wipe the water from my face and then I use it to place on the floor in front of the sink where I finish all of the rest of my prepping… after shaving, and the brushing of teeth I am pretty much dry and only need a few pats here and there to finish off.
Not very glamorous but it is effective.

Andrew, you’re definitely a dork like the rest of us ;)

I start with my hair. With any luck after doing the light-socket method like Crystal and giving it some time, I won’t need a blow dryer. After that I just move down. Not sure what the method is … shoulders and arms, then back, then I pat everywhere else and wrap the towel around me like a dress while I do my makeup. Kinda like Andrew I guess!

Not to say Andrew uses a towel for a dress while he does his makeup. But maybe …

Melissa, to clarify from your post, I do not wear a towel as a dress while I put on my makeup.

So, what do you wear while you put on your makeup?

Thanks Kevin and Crystal for messing up my morning routine.. it took me about 7 minutes longer to get ready, I was trying to figure out which way I dried off, got all confused, but I did realize one thing about myself this morning, I always try to beat my shower time. Usually when I get out there is steam covering the top of the mirror..if I look in the mirror it comes about down to my shoulders and I cant see my face, so I’ve been trying to take a faster shower that way when I get out I can see my whole face and won’t have to wipe or dry the mirror before I start primping. :)
    Just a thought..

Well honestly Kevin… I find that lack of cleavage really hampers the dress technique. So occasionally I will use the “tunic” version, but even then it just doesnt have the same feeling as going completely uncovered.

So, back to the makeup bit. Do you start with a nice base and then add color? Maybe you could use some of your makeup on your chest to give the illusion of cleavage since you seem so concerned with your lack thereof.
